Newlands Community Centre / CCM Architects This project is a community centre for the people in the outer residential suburb of Newlands, Wellington. The site is at the back of a small suburban shopping centre and immediately adjacent a tavern (it is actually built on one of the taverns old carpark areas.) Slunakov Center for Ecological Activities / Projektil Architekti Slunakov – Centre for Ecological Activities of the city of Olomouc was designed as a part of the project entitled “Slunakov, facilities for ecological activities – educational biocenter”, which is located northwest of Olomouc, in the Morava River valley. Salburúa Nature Interpretation Centre / QVE Arquitectos The difficulty of the project was to find the laws which were coherent with a risky construction scheme. We checked the scheme to estimate its dimensional limits, study knots, analyze how to reach enough rigidity, how to manage to reach the necessary fire resistance and how to protect the most delicate points from rain, without “sacrifice skins” that would transform the image of the building (read more…)
Civic center in St Germain en Laye / Atelier 9 portes + Philippe Harden The new design of the administrative center was guided by two main questions: the management of streams and organization of the new management system for the reception. We wanted to answer these preoccupations of usage through an refurbishment which marks the change without striking a blow at the aesthetic coherence of the building conceived and realized by Brunet Saunier Architectes in 1995 (read more…)
Outdoor Chattanooga Center / Artech Outdoor Chattanooga is a division of the City of Chattanooga Parks & Recreation Department, aimed at promoting outdoor recreation as a signature lifestyle for the city of Chattanooga. In order to facilitate the organization’s growth, a site near the Tennessee River was selected for it’s central location to many of the city’s outdoor amenities (read more…)
